Enhanced Racing Simulation: Training for Real-World Motorsports Conditions Through Novel Suit Desin
The Project

This project explores how apparel can make racing simulator training more physically engaging and relevant to real-world motorsports. A survey of 17 racecar drivers revealed that while simulators are widely used for track learning, they are rarely used to replicate the physical demands of the cockpit. In response, I developed a purpose-built simulation training suit that combines ergonomic garment design with functional features inspired by motorsports and flight training. The two-piece suit incorporates articulated shaping for a semi-reclined driving posture, increased mobility through an action gusset, adjustable resistance in the sleeves, and a pneumatic abdominal pocket designed to simulate the sensation of acceleration. Unlike traditional racing suits, the design prioritizes comfort, durability, and functionality for the simulation environment.
